IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) takes place annually in Berlin. This year, the technology showcase is expected to attract over 200 000 attendees.
The show officially only begins on 2 September, but that hasn’t stopped some of the world’s largest technology brands showing off their latest devices as early as 31 August.
Take a look at what Acer had in store for tech enthusiasts at IFA:
Predator gaming monitors and notebooks
- Predator Z271T/XB251HQT/XB271HUT: Samsung made a big splash when they announced that the Note 7 would include an iris scanner, but Acer went more than just a step further and announced the world’s monitors first to include eye tracking technology. By tracking a gamer’s eye with software, the monitors introduce new interactions like aiming, identifying enemies and taking cover simply by gazing at objects on the screen.
- Predator 21 X: Acer’s new Predator 21 X is the world’s first notebook with a curved screen. It also integrates eye tracking technology for an even more immersive user experience. It features the latest 7th Generation Intel Core processors, 5 cooling fans and dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs in SLI for unmatched graphics performance.
- Predator 15 and Predator 17: Notebooks designed for those with a need for speed, the Predator 17 and Predator 15 received updates with the latest GPUs featuring NVIDIA GTX 10-Series graphics cards, enabling them to be ready for Virtual Reality.
Swift ultra-thin notebooks
Acer unveiled its new Swift series of ultra-thin and lightweight notebook PCs. Comprised of four lines, namely the Swift 7, Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1, the new ultra-thin models feature Windows 10 and include something for every budget and lifestyle.

From ultra-thin to budget-friendly, Acer’s new ultra-slim notebooks aim provide both elegant and practical solutions for everyone.
The Swift 7 (the flagship device in this range) is just 0.39 inches thin and weighs just 1.12kg.
Devices in the Swift 5 and Swift 3 series include premium features such as a metal chassis, 7th Generation Intel Core Processors, Solid State Drives, USB 3.1 Type-C ports and fingerprint scanners.
Spin convertible notebooks
The new Spin series convertible notebooks run on Windows 10. It incorporates 360-degree hinges, along with Continuum, that enable them to be used in various ways: as a notebook or tablet, in a space-saving display mode, or in tent mode for sharing presentations or watching movies.
From the ultra-thin convertible notebook – the rather elegant Spin 7 – to the student friendly Spin 1, Acer’s new convertible notebooks are ideal for work and play.
The Spin 7 features a 14-inch display in a 13-inch chassis and includes an all aluminum unibody which is just 0.43 inches thin and weighs 1.17kg. The Spin 5 series devices include 13.3-inch displays and can be used with an Acer Active Pen and Microsoft Windows Ink. The Spin 3 devices include 15.6-inch displays and dual storage support; while the Spin 1 series includes 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch displays options, and are ideal for students or as a secondary computer.
Chromebook R 13
The new Chromebook R 13 is the first convertible Chromebook with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display. It features a flexible design that can be used in a number of different modes including as a tablet thanks to its 360-degree hinges.
The Chromebook will also provide additional capabilities thanks to planned support for Android apps via the Google Play Store.
Revo Base Mini PC
Acer launched the Revo Base, a compact and stylish one litre unit, to their award winning Revo mini PC lineup.
It measures 5.3 cm in height with a 14 x 14 cm footprint, features up to Intel® CoreTM i7 processors, and up to 8GB of DDR3L system memory.
“With digital content delivery becoming the norm, a compact home entertainment hub offers users the convenience and storage space that laptops or tablets just can’t offer,” said Jeff Lee, General Manager, Stationary Computing, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “The Revo Base is designed as a dedicated entertainment, browsing and content-serving device that addresses the performance and expandability needs of today’s consumers, while also taking into consideration the space constraints of modern living rooms.”
Liquid Z6/Z6 Plus Smartphones
Liquid Z6 series smartphones are designed for those desiring a full-featured and intuitive device for staying productive on the go. Both devices sport minimalist designs and elegant 2.5D curved glass. For added sophistication, the Liquid Z6 Plus offers an ultra-premium metal back casing.
The Liquid Z6 and Z6 Plus come with 5-inch and 5.5-inch Full HD IPS displays respectively. The mid-range Liquid Z6 touts an 8MP main camera and the high-end Liquid Z6 Plus boasts 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras.
The Liquid Z6 features a powerful quad-core processor, while the Liquid Z6 Plus enables even higher speeds with an octa-core processor and both phones run Android 6.0 out of the box.
