Car Wars: The Battle of the SUV

A few weeks back, we mentioned that three cars had been nominated for Car of the Year at the Geneva Motor show. Interestingly, all three were SUV’s. Interestingly too, all three are well-loved brands that have a solid place in South African motoring. We decided to take a look at the three cars and check out the pros and cons of them all. How do they weigh up to each other, and who is most likely to take the crown. We compare the two engines on each end of the spectrum for all three, i.e. the smallest and the biggest. Which of these would you buy?

• The active bonnet addition which protects pedestrians and cyclists in case of a collision. If contact is made, a sensor will trigger a pyrotechnic actuator. This will lift the bonnet by 50mm in 22 milliseconds, increasing the distance from the engine and the person.
