Winter has officially hit South Africa, and already, several areas have seen some dustings of snow.
If you are anything like us, we love taking a drive up into the mountains to take in the white winterland and the majestic views that the seasons brings.
So, pack up some padkos, bundle the family up and head off to go and spot some snow.
Here are our favourite spots:
Matroosberg
The Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve is situated about 30 minutes from Ceres on the Erfdeel farm. This is about 2 hours from Cape Town.
The nice thing about going to view the snow here, is that you can stay here over the weekend.
There is a wide range of activities to take part in while you enjoy your stay on the farm amongst the frost.

Sneeuberg (Cederberg)
The Cederberg mountains spans right through four towns in the Western Cape area.
During the winter time this is a prime spot for all things snow!
If you want to spend the weekend near the snow-capped mountains, these are the areas you could stay in:
- Clanwilliam
- Citrusdal
- Lambert’s Bay
- Wupperthal

Groot Wellington Sneeukop
This mountain range is situated by the small town of Wellington located about an hour from Cape Town.
This mountain range is one of the more popular climbing spot from avid rock climbers.
